BCIT is renowned for providing applied education that is pragmatic and useful for students in the real world. The Confucius Institute at BCIT will apply the same principle to teach applicable and pragmatic courses related to Chinese culture and business development in China along with the Chinese language skills.
Course registration, payment, cancellation and issuance of tax receipts at the Confucius Institute follow the same procedures as other BCIT departments.
There are four convenient ways to register for our courses:

Number (so you can get a tax credit form for your tuition).

Basic Chinese for Business and Travelers (I)

| Note:Designed for non-Chinese speakers who have no prior knowledge of Mandarin, This course covers everyday Chinese language, and effective words and sentences for basic communication. Learn Mandarin for traveling and business purposes in China. Through the Chinese phonetic system, simple conversations, basic vocabulary and sentence patterns, this course provides oral practice related to scenario-based conversations. It also covers business culture and Chinese traditions.

Teaching Methodology for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language

| Note:This course is designed for instructors teaching Chinese as a second language. The course will cover curriculum development and interactive teaching methodology. Upon successful completion of the course, the individuals will be able to develop curriculum and teaching plans for students for whom Chinese is a second language. Graguates will also receive a certificate from the Confucius Institute headquarters in Beijing to be recognized as junior level instructors.

Mandarin Conversation in One Day

| Note: For those who have no prior knowledge in Mandarin, but want a quick start in the language, this one-day immersion class is the most effective way to acquire some quick basics in mandarin. The course content and its delivery method will help you to communicate in Mandarin as rapidly as possible. The course will introduce several practical topics and engage participants in activities where they are required to apply what they learn to express themselves and practical problem. The topics for each session vary and students are encouraged to take multiple sessions to build up their confidence in Mandarin in order to proceed to a higher level.
