Introduction - BCIT Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute at BCIT was designated in July 2005 by the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), under the Chinese Ministry of Education, and established in partnership with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in early 2006.

Chinese State Councilor (Deputy Prime Minister), Madam Chen Zhili and officials from Canadian federal, provincial and municipal governments graced the opening ceremony of the Institute.

The Confucius Institute at BCIT follows the same principle of BCIT's polytechnic vision: teaching practical and pragmatic skills to its students. It focuses on courses that are in high demand from Canadians who are interested in learning not only the Chinese language but also matters related to China, either for personal or business needs.
