YCT - Introduction
The Young Learners Chinese Test (YCT), developed for non-native Chinese learners under the age of 15, is comprised of three separate tests differentiated by level of difficulty. One can register and take any of these three tests based on his/her current competence level in the Chinese language.

  • YCT Level I - suitable for young learners who have studied Chinese for roughly 150 hours and mastered a vocabulary of about 500 characters.
  • YCT Level II - suitable for young learners who have studied Chinese for roughly 250 hours and mastered a vocabulary of about 1100 characters.
  • YCT Level III - suitable for young learners who have studied Chinese for roughly 400 hours and mastered a vocabulary of about 1700 characters.
